Joy (fruit of the spirit series) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. (Galatians 5:22, 23 ESV) My message Salvation belongs to the Lord; your blessing be on your people! Selah (Psalm 3:8 ESV). We are continuing our series on the fruits of the spirit. Today we looking at the second fruit of the spirit that is joy. When I think about joy 3 questions that comes into mind: 1. What is joy The Greek word for joy is chara. Joy is the natural reaction to the work of God, whether promised or fulfilled. Joy expresses God’s kingdom—His influence on earth (Romans 14:17)-Got questions. In summary, joy is a fruit of the Spirit that makes one glad in all things. One bears this fruit as a result of the indwelling and the work of the Holy Spirit in that person. 2. Where can I find joy? True join can only be found in God. This is joy from God is an eternal, immeasurable and priceless joy. This joy cannot be found in the pursuit of the things of this world but it is found by seeking God in all contrition of the heart and brokenness of the spirit. This joy is not dependant on pleasant circumstances such as good degree, money, good job and etc but fully dependant on God! This joy we have, the world do not have and nothing in this world can purchase or give that joy. 3. The importance of having the joy of The Lord. A. It gives us strength in the midst hardships. When we are joyful in Him that gives us the strength to stand in all circumstances and that’s why the bible tell us in Nehemiah 8:10 that “the joy of The Lord is our strength”. The joy of The Lord doesn’t only gives us strength but hope for the good things The Lord have prepared for His people in the future. That’s why children of God do not fret during adversities but rather draw strength from this joy that comes from The Lord to face these adversities that may come in lives. B. Encourage us to reach the unsaved with the gospel The story of the prodigal son shows us how loving God is, even though we have sinned against Him. When turn away from our sins unto Him. He accepts us with Joy, forgives us of all iniquities and pour out His spirit upon us to do His will. The people that we love so much we always go an extra mile to bring joy and happiness to their lives. In the same way this joy we have received from God should motivate us to also bring joy to God by reaching others with the gospel. What makes the Father glad is when one soul comes to Him-Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance. (Luke 15:7 ESV) So we can bring joy to God in heaven if we would make ourselves available for God to use us to save souls for His glory. Let’s us be partakers of bringing joy to The Lord in heaven by winning more souls for Him by His Grace. Brethren, let’s us be joyful in all things. It is good to be joyful. eaministries.co.uk/joy-fruit-of-the-spirit-series/
