João Armando Gonçalves, member of the World Scout Committee, applauded the participants and their National Scout Organizations for making the 12th World Scout Youth Forum, the biggest ever to date. “Your participation in this Youth Forum is most encouraging to the World Scout Committee, especially since we have given a much bigger focus on youth views and issues over the past three years. This was done through in-depth involvement of the Youth Advisors in the regular operation of the Committee, including every work group, and through actively developing a number of youth-related issues and projects. Some examples of work done are: the development of new policies on Youth Involvement and Youth Programme, which will be submitted to the World Scout Conference; the new concept of Leadership in Scouting; the comprehensive evaluation of the World Scout Youth Fora and the Youth Advisors system; the relaunch of the Scouts of the World Programme; and the implementation of the Messengers of Peace initiative, which is an opportunity for each and everyone of us, regardless of our age, to create a better world.” scout.org/node/33261
