Just Sharing…a Thought “Truly, truly, I say unto you, He that believes on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.” John 14:12 Here we are now in a New Year: 2015. It was just 15 years ago when we experienced what came to be called: Y2K. To some it was to be the end of the world, to others a horrific change to take place, to others it was an unknown of fear and uncertainty. Well, it does seem that these thoughts and fears may happen to a lot of people all over the world more times than we think, at any given time or year. What did you think during this tagged period of Y2K? Well, none of what was broadcasted and feared happened. And now we are 15 years past the time…and what do we think? I believe that maybe many of us, well, many of us who profess to be Christians, had broad, varied and, will I dare say, fearful, doubtful and even ‘fingers crossed’ hopeful thoughts? Did we have faithful thoughts of ‘Lord, I stand ready at your lead and command’? Or was it, ‘I’m ready Lord, take me Home out of this crazy, evil, messed up world’. Where are our thoughts now, fifteen years past Y2K? Our thoughts as professing Christians, who say that we follow Jesus and are His ‘lights shining in this world, that others may see our good works and glorify our Father which is in heaven’. What ‘works’ would that be? And what is our motivator and intention in these ‘works’? Paul gave the Colossians a word in the 3rd chapter and 2nd verse when he said, “Set your inner most thoughts and intentions on things above, not on things on the earth” What are our ‘intentions’ now in what we desire to be known as our ‘good works’? Or do we even give that a thought, because it is a ‘focused on Him and His truth’ inner reality? Paul prevised this word with the understanding given in the first verse, “If you then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sits on the right hand of God”. How do we do that? I believe by having the mind of Christ. “God has made us what we are. He has created us in Christ Jesus to live lives filled with good works that He has prepared for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10 (GWT) “Don’t become like the people of this world. Instead, change the way you think. Then you will always be able to determine what God really wants – what is good, pleasing and perfect”. Romans 12:2 (GWT) “The truth is in Jesus. You were taught to change the way you were living. …You were taught to have a new attitude. You were also taught to become a new person created to be like God, truly righteous and holy”. Ephesians 4:20-24 (GWT) We need to “Real Eyes” who we are in Christ, where is our focus, what have we learned from what we have been taught? Has the Holy Spirit been our teacher? And as you truly “believe on Jesus Christ, the works that He has done (we) shall do also”. Jesus says that ‘we shall do greater works that He has done, because He will be with His Father’. “For God, Who commanded the Light to shine out of darkness, has shined in our hearts, to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ”. II Corinthians 4:6 In this New Year of 2015 let us, His children, His servants, His vessels, let us go for the “greater works” and let us not hold back for any reason, but go forth with a renewed mind focused on the knowledge, understanding, faith and reality of His Truth. That all my see our ‘good works’ and know without a doubt that they are from God and of God, that He may be gloried, known and worshipped, with hope that many souls may be brought into the Kingdom of God.
