Just a few comments on the Ray Rice situation. Sad and I opening. Sole: I am a woman once victim of domestic violence and I understand where most of yall are coming from but I dont think yall understand that the punishment should fit the crime. The NFL is so unbalanced in their punishment and they clearly show that their priorities arent where they should be. Josh Brent, involuntary manslaughter because of drinking; 180 days in jail, 9 game suspension, Leonard Little, involuntary manslaughter because of drinking; 8 games suspension, went on to make millions of dollars and still kept getting pulled over for drunk driving, Donte Stallworth, DUI manslaughter, 30 days in jail, only suspended for a year then reinstated, Michael Vick, conspiracy in dog fighting, 21 months in jail, lost all endorsements and salary for two years and then reinstated, Ray Lewis involvement in the killing of two people was dismissed in exchange for his testimony, fined $250K by the league and was Super Bowl MVP the following year and continued to play until retirement despite his settlements with the families of the two who were killed. Do I condone what he did? No!, but if all these men who took lives from this earth are allowed to continue to work, Ray Rice should be allowed to as well. In light of the new video that Goodell claims hes never seen, should stick to his punishment of a 6 game suspension for first offense. Ravens of all teams should not release him considering they embraced and glorified Ray Lewis. People make mistakes and have been forgiven by the NFL, so they need to clearly be fair in this situation based on their decisions with other players. Patrick: One more thing I would like to consider here, if there was some kind of highly charged emotional moment that led up to this and it is indeed true this was a one time thing, as has been stated. Then I see no justice for Mrs. Rice should her husband and father of her child, be prevented from making amends and having some redemption. As much as I am appalled by this video, I understand mercy and forgiveness. Jesus said go and sin no more. only moments after stating, let he without sin, cast the first stone. If Mrs. Rice has forgiven him, I can at least afford him the opportunity to prove himself a better man than this.
