Cheers Mar Roxas Leads 2016 Presidential Survey After Typhoon Ruby Posted by niel | On 12 December,2014 | In Politics Mar Roxas reporters interview Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Mar Roxas is now leading the 2016 presidential survey, days after Typhoon Ruby left the country. This is despite the criticisms he received when he fell from a motorcycle while doing an inspection in Samar Island, and not wearing a helmet. According to the latest Pulse Asia released this Friday, Roxas earned 26% out of 2,500 respondents who were asked as who they will vote for president in 2016. The survey was conducted from December 4-10, 2014. This is a very huge jump for the DILG secretary, who had a 6% vote on the last survey. Immediately second on the list is Vice President Jejomar Binay, who slightly dropped from 31% to 25%. Binay has been declining his approval rating since the alleged corruption being thrown to him. His withdrawal from the debate with Senator Antonio Trillanes IV has reportedly affected the survey results. Meanwhile, Senator Grace Poe is continuously gaining attention from survey respondents. Apparently, the daughter of the late action king Fernando Poe Jr jumped to 18% from only 10% on the last survey. Recently, Senator Poe told reporters that she is open to run for president or vice president in 2016. On the fourth spot is Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago, who earned 12% and has increased 2 percentage points as compared to the last survey. She was immediately followed by former president and Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada, who had 11%. Erap announced earlier that he will run again. On the other hand, Senators Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is consistent at sixth place. But this time, he had an increase of 4 percentage points from 6% to 10%. The lone son of the late President Ferdinand Marcos is tied with former senator Panfilo Lacson, who ran for president in 2004. To complete the top 10 presidentiables in 2016 included in the Pulse Asia survey are senators Alan Peter Cayetano, Francis “Chiz” Escudero, Franklin Drilon, and Bong Revilla. Respondents have chosen former senators Richard Gordon and Manny Villar on the 11th and 12th spot, respectively. For the vice presidency, Senator Grace Poe is leading at 33%. She was followed by Chiz Escudero (20%) and Cayetano (13%), Marcos and Trillanes were tied at fourth place with 8%, while Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte landed at fifth place, and earned 7%. For the sudden increase of his percentage score on the presidential 2016 survey, Secretary Mar Roxas said he is not aware of the results. In an ambush interview, Roxas told reporters that he focused on his job to help the victims of Typhoon Ruby and accessing the situation. “Pangit sabihin na hindi ako sa natutuwa sa result ng survey. Pero kung totoo man yun, hindi yun ang purpose natin. Nagpunta tayo sa mga lugar na apektado ng bagyo (Ruby) dahil kailangan tayo dun. Utos yung ng ating president (Aquino) at sumusunod lang ako.” Secretary Mar Roxas said. (It will not sound good if I say I’m not happy with the results of the survey. But if they are true, it’s not our purpose. We went to the areas affected by the typhoon (Ruby) because we are needed there. The president (Aquino) told me to go there, and I’m just following his instructions.)
