Just a quick post - it seems the reason the airstrikes have been effective this time around is because the Coalition have finally opened some form of dialogue with those in Kobane. BBC reported that Meysa Abdo, one of YPJs commanders, stated that they had some coordination with the Coalition attacks against ISIS. Interesting news if true. The effectiveness of the strikes suggest that this may be the case. However, Im more interested on what this supposed coordination could mean. Does it mean the US have opened (real) dialogue with YPG/YPJ and are coordinating an attack together? If this is so, it is essentially legitimizing YPG as an allied force. Turkey will NOT be happy about this. This piece of news has gone under the radar a little but it could be the game changer. I cant stress the importance of this enough. Hopefully it is real dialogue and it leads to the US proposing YPG as the boots on the ground and not just a token act to placate people all over the world. Either way, it certainly helps Kobane so no complaints from me in this regard. P.S. another 80 ISIS fighters crossed the border from Turkey into Gire Spi (Tel Abyad) yesterday.
