Just an update on Dad. I have had friends ask so I though I would just let everyone concerned know. As most of you know Dad was diagnosed with cancer in his throat in January. It has been a long road of radiation but we thought we beat it. Two weeks ago he has noticed shortness of breath. The doc put him on various medications trying to get the swelling down but they just werent working. We met with his doc (who is fabulous) Monday at 730 am. They then scoped his throat and thats when they could tell for sure the meds hadnt helped. Then he had no choice then to do a trach and give his throat a rest. At that point they did a biopsy to see if the cancer was gone. Unfortunately, Dr Vivek gave us the results today and their is cancer present. Now we hAve a referral to OHSU to meet with a surgeon to have his voice box removed. This is a very major surgery but we are sure he will be fine. This is a HUGE transition for Dad and Mom and the entire family. We need continued prayers and support as we all feel very lost and blind sided by this. My Dad is the strongest man I know and I have all the faith that we will get through this. Just very scared right now. Want to share with Cheryl Miller Weinhold friends too
