Just another day in the life of kidney disease... Today was lab - TopicsExpress

Just another day in the life of kidney disease... Today was lab day. Every first Tuesday of the month and then again right before clinic appointments. If there was ever a pro at anything, this kid is a lab pro! He plops himself down on the chair, pulls the arm rest toward him, sticks his arm up (he chooses which arm has the best vein that day), then patiently waits for the lobotomist to insert the needle and make the draw. Not a wince, blink of the eye, or flinch takes place. Its as if nothing is happening. The lobotomist asked him how how long have you been doing this? His reply all my life. Yep, pretty much. From the time he was diagnosed at three months old and every month since, lab days come regularly! It was a lot harder when he was a baby...now its part of life. A strong boy in so many ways! My hero!
