Just finished our bi-annual toy sorting. One pile to give away, one pile to throw away and one pile to keep. We usually try to do this before Christmas and the kids bdays. A couple of tips in case you want to try this at home: 1)Use a BLACK bag for give aways. Once they cant see it its easier for them to let go. 2)Go easy. They are little. 3)The things that are meaningful to you arent necessarily meaningful to them. You will have to decide how to deal with that. 4)I like to have a rule about everything must fit into the toy box. Or the closet. Or whatever. Start with a hard and fast rule and then make exceptions. It keeps you and the kiddos on track with a clear goal that everyone understands. I started this with Bodie when he was little and it worked great. I think it builds generosity and limits their attachment to stuff
