Just got off the phone with one of my beloved family members whom I disagree with wholly on political matters/solutions but I love him. It seems he just moved back to Fl and no longer has health insurance because Fl did not expand Medicaid under Obama Care as Colorado has... I am not sure what the correct answer is but these are the working poor who have no children and cannot afford to get simple procedures like cataract surgery which would help them be more economically fruitful if they could see (He drives for a living and is 52, no kids and tons of life bad luck, some by his own doing). Maybe a smart banker would be able to make medical loans for these semi small amounts and allow folks to pay it back over five years with interest out of an automatic payroll deduction? Maybe pool these folks who fall through the cracks through a group policy? I am sure there is an free market solution but it seems everything I think of is destroyed by some other policy or regulation which disallows these solutions. What should be the solution to help those who work hard but cannot keep up with inflation? I am thinking that these folks have latched on to Obamas promises because they are desperate. These are folks who would pay but do not have large sums of money for a 2-4 or $6000 dollar surgeries...
