Just had my admissions interview with Regis University. For - TopicsExpress

Just had my admissions interview with Regis University. For family from Milwaukee, they are the Denver equivalent of Marquette U. Anywho, they have set me up on a 6-year program to get my bachelors degree in accounting. Unfortunately, I have to take at least 10 classes with them, and each class is going to cost about $460. This doesnt include books and student fees. So now I have to figure out how to earn another $460 a month to make this happen. Taking $460 and dividing by 1 minus my current tax rate (about 20%) = $575 before taxes. Dividing this by $7.78 (Colorado minimum wage) equals about 74 hours. Classes at Regis do not go by semesters; it uses six 8-week terms. Therefore, 74 hours divided by 8 weeks is 9-1/4 hours per week. In summary, I would have to find a part-time job that pays minimum wage and work 9-1/4 hours per week to pay for Regis classes. Alternative: Overtime at my current job. Although there is never a guarantee of any overtime, my calculations say I need 32.6 hours (or 4 days) of overtime per class to pay for Regis. I think that will be my starting point, then. As soon as I am finished using overtime to pay for my dental work (need another 3-1/2 shifts), I will set up an overtime savings account to use to pay for Regis. Maybe in August 2014, when my probationary period at the job is over, I can also ask for an increase big enough to pay for school. That way, no potential study hours are wasted on working. Thanks for listening. I now have 3 different plans on how to pay to finish school. Before writing this post, in fact, I thought I would need to work 20 more hours a week. We shall see if the federal government has any money left to help out as well, and I plan on asking Regis for scholarship search help.
