Just had to share this email that Star Legacy Foundation received this morning........ How awesome is this?? I practice as a nurse-midwife and was seeing a woman for her routine 34.5 wk prenatal visit a few days after the conference. She reported 3 days of decreased fetal movement and she was concerned. Her baby sounded fine but I scheduled a biophysical profile 2 hours later followed by fetal monitoring on the maternity floor. The US was normal but the monitor tracing was not reassuring. IV fluids followed with position changes and oxygen but after several hours it remained concerning. She was not in labor. Suddenly the heart beat dropped precipitously and a stat CS was done. A small but healthy baby boy was born who went home 9 days later with his parents. As someone at the conference said, we dont know how many babies are saved by our actions, but I believe that information from the Stillbirth Summit was impactful in saving this baby.
