Just heard from John Coffey that another Rugby League Legend, 1954-1963 Kiwi Ron Ackland, who coached Kiwis at World Cup 1977 (Butch Coll captain, Mike ODonnell, Alan Rushton, Ray Baxendale, Bruce Towart, masseur. WAW local manager, Mark Graham had first game for Kiwis in second game at World Cup, and again in 1978, passed away last night. Ron began as a centre then shifted to second row where he became established. Ron played in 18 tests (one try) from Auckland. Condolences to family from South Island Rugby League Kiwis Association. RIP Ron.
