Just logged into my hospital email account. A message from the medical director to all hospital staff it was highlighted with a red exclamation mark signifying the message was sent with high importance. It read You will all be aware there has been an Ebola outbreak in West Africa... A quick glance in the mirror reassured me there was no identifying stigmata per se....further information on diagnosis and management are contained in the attachment it concluded. Now this is being pro-active and again mass educating the people. Ive always thought of how to translate this to my people when I do not know the Igbo word for virus, haemorrhagic fever, laboratory cultures... Or Ebola . In what language do we explain to them that some corpses ought to be cremated, and the body shall not be washed , neither shall there be lavish burial ceremonies. The problem of communication is really a stumbling block to education hence disease prevention, and healthcare delivery in a whole.
