Just posted this missive on a Guardian talk back. Thought some of you might find it amusing.... I am Israeli. Yesterday I was speaking to a help desk of a UK bank. When wed finished our business he said I hope you dont mind... Ive never spoken to an Israeli... can I ask you whats going on? I asked him what he thought was going on. He said well we see a lot of devastation on the TV. I asked Would you agree with me that the Israeli army is one of the most powerful in the world? He answered for sure for sure. I asked Would you agree we have one of the most sophisticated military hardware in the world? He answered for sure for sure. I asked so we should be able to put an end to 9 years of rocketing and the tunnel threat in less than 24 hours? He said for sure. I asked why do you think we havent done that? He answered thats a great question. I asked him to suggest an answer. He opined that we would end up killing circa 100,000 -250,000 plus civilians. I said I agreed. Im sure you get the point. You see, when a radical Islamic group whose land you no longer occupy (left Gaza years ago) attacks you - having spent international aid money creating a destruction machine that it protects with its own civilians lives, one has to take a strategic decision to remove said threat, less one eggs on the likes of ISIS, al-qaeda and Hezbullah, and before they themselves get too large. One day, when this threat is more evident in the UK and the EU, perhaps then the world will see the definition of disproportionate response. It amazes me reading the Guardian and its talk backs how far the post-modern moral relativism of the left has perverted the liberalism of Locke and the social liberalism of Thomas Hill Green to side with tyranny of any sort in the name of intellectualism and freedom. You all need a dose of the Christopher Hitchens and Sam Harris - good liberal athiests who know a tyranny when they see one.
