Just read something that upset me greatly. Seth Rogan tweeted comparing the movie American Sniper to a Nazi propaganda film. Then Michael Moore followed up by sharing that he believes snipers are cowards. Im not a hard-line liberal or conservative. Like most Americans I fall somewhere in between. I could be completely wrong... but what I took away from American Sniper was not that war is awesome and we should invade other countries and kick their asses!! NO! It was a peek behind the scenes at what service members and their families go through. How youre in a scorching desert getting shot at for 9 months, and then a week later you have to come home go to your daughters birthday party and pretend like everything is normal. And how these guys (and gals) do it multiple times! 2... 3.... 4... 5 tours. I also didnt take away from the movie that they were trying to idolize Chris Kyle into some superhuman we should all worship. I took from it that Chris Kyles story is an example of what it costs to keep this countrys homeland safe. Its because of guys (and gals) like that we dont have to sit and worry about when the next bomb will go off outside our doors at night. Brave men and woman like who keep the fight AWAY from us, and the fact that they are willing to sacrifice their lives for it, means that they are owed the decent respect of not being insulted by someone who doesnt know what the hell theyre talking about. Disagree with the war, thats fine. But dont ever... EVER... disrespect the men and women that lay down their lives to keep us safe. Just a thought.
