Just read yet another article about the rise in autism. Why is it that no one EVER discusses the fact that the US has one of the lowest infant mortality rates in the world, as well as one of the highest rates of autism, and that these two facts are undoubtedly at least a little bit related? Many autistic kids (mine included) would have died shortly after birth because other issues, but were revived/medicated/treated and survived. We are so lucky to have these children with us, but we should not be surprised if these birth survivors have autism or other disabilities that were not common when many children didnt survive to see their first or second birthdays. Why dont any of the experts discuss this? It seems so obvious.
