Just saw catching fire, and Ill give you a brief (for me) *spoiler free* review: Until tonight I was always unimpressed with movies that were based off books. I have a thing against them because, other than Lord of the Rings, they never do the books justice. Catching Fire was literally the best movie based on a book I have ever seen. Ive never been able to leave a movie absolutely breathless (and feeling exactly how I felt after I closed the last page of the book), nor have I ever been so enthralled in a movie whos plot I already knew going into it. Also I would like to add that I NEVER get emotional in movies other than the usual giggling or extremely rare tear. In Catching Fire I cried, I laughed my ass off, I got super pissed, and legitimately had a panic attack at one part. How many movies can you say THAT about? Excellent cinematography and soundtrack (an improvement from the first movie), excellent acting on all parts (RARE), and not a single part I would leave out. A book fan always hopes when the first movie isnt as good as you would have hoped the director will learns from their mistakes for the next movie. They did for CF 100%. Also, if youve never read the books, I would go far enough to say you dont even have to read the book for this one it was so close to the book, just make sure you watch Hunger Games first. I give this movie a well deserved A+.
