Just so that you know: URGENT notice to Students and Staff The University will hold public protest march from the Clock Tower to the City Hall tomorrow in order to express our outrage and strong dissatisfaction at the ongoing water outage which has affected large numbers of the people of this town for the past 8 days, including 11 residences on campus. The march will be led by Dr Badat and Dr Mabizela, and a formal public statement will be handed over to the Makana Municipality. I urge all our students to participate. Some banners will be provided, but students and staff are encouraged to bring their own banners and posters as well. The protest aims to be a peaceful, formal and dignified expression of deep concern at the needless suffering which has resulted from the lack of water supply to the University and the citizens of our town. Academic staff who would like to join the march are encouraged to wear academic dress. Members of the wider community are welcome to join the march. Gather at 13h00 at the clock tower. A further statement summarising current emergency arrangements which are in place will be posted on student zone as soon as details are finalised.
