Just so there is no revisionist history, or revisionist characterization of what occurred, lets be clear. 1. Harry Reid changed the Senate rules. 2. The changes were illegal, and the Senate Parliamentarian told him so. 3. Reid permitted a vote to change the rules anyway. 4. In the past 2 years, precisely ZERO Republican-sponsored pieces of legislation were permitted by Reid to be debated on the floor of the Senate. ZERO. Thats filibuster, or otherwise. 5. Today, several Democratic Senators have said they will welcome a change of the rules and open debate on the Senate floor, mostly as it relates to immigration. 6. McConnell has, politely, reminded everyone what Harry Reid did, and identified what are facts: 1) it is possible that every action taken on overruling filibuster with 51 votes was illegal, and therefore bills passed over filibuster are invalid; 2) what is good for the goose is certainly good for the gander, and he may just leave the rules in place and pass what they want and submit them to the President.
