Just talked to the Police Dept in Perryton, and we are still to boil all water for human consumption. I asked if she knew when that might be lifted, and she had no idea. Here is the notice this morning on the High Plains Observer... Boil Water Notification Still In Affect Until At Least Noon Today Updated 9:56 a.m. 1/17/14: The water line issues in Perryton this week have been an inconvenience at best for residents and hard, long hours for the crews that worked on the repairs. Residents have been in this “boil it before you consume it” status since pressure was lost on Tuesday. What is the connection between the loss of pressure in a city water system and the possibility of water contamination? Perryton City Manager David Landis has some answers. “When you lose water pressure or say for instance you have a vacuum or a lack of water pressure, the possibility exists that you get contaminates in your water or possibly bacteria in your water,” Landis says. You can hear more of what he has to say by clicking here. Residents continue to be in the “boil it before you consume it” status until at least noon today. We will update as soon as we know the water is safe to consume without boiling it first. Good news is, as of early this morning, Landis says the repairs completed Thursday morning as holding great. He also adds we are fortunate there were no big water needs for firefighting purposes over the last several days.
