Justice, now there is yet another abused word. If it had the rightful secular common law intent the civil west should want it to have, I would have no problem with it. But because of the likes of our Nancy Grace McMedia presume guilt first society Justice is nothing more than a call for revenge. Our law enforcement, judges and prosecutors should be about fact finding, not revenge. We have unfortunately put way to many non violent people, especially urban and rural poor, in prison placing labels on them and stigmas on them to both the detriment of their futures and our collective tax cost. While Dirty Harry and Die Hard fill our emotional satisfaction, it does not reflect reality, and especially the reality that pay disparity in the ability to defend oneself if accused, is nothing more than the American caste system where the poor are the untouchables.
