Jusus is the awesome. Stability Wednesday, August 21, 2013“Wisdom and knowledge will be the stability of your times, and the strength of salvation; the fear of the Lord is His treasure.” – Isaiah 33:6 NKJV“Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold.” This is how the world looked in 1919 to Irish poet William Butler Yeats. Writing in a poem called “The Second Coming,” he described how anarchy was “loosed upon the world.”The world had just emerged from the horrors of World War I. Yeats had seen his own nation of Ireland experience bloodshed and years of conflict. He had been a leader of the Irish resistance as it fought for independence from Great Britain. To Yeats and millions of other people, it seemed that things were falling apart and that anarchy was everywhere. Many people feel the same way today. The world is filled with wars and rumors of war. The economy has gone through a roller coaster ride of ups and downs. Terrorists threaten violence, and the forces of darkness seek to undermine our Christian faith. But in times like these we need to remember the words of Isaiah: “Wisdom and knowledge will be the stability of your times.” We must trust in God and fill our hearts and minds with His Word. When we do this, He will give us stability, relieve our fears, give us peace, and show us His perspective on the world.Jesus knew that His followers would face challenges and countless questions. He urged us to remember,“Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me” (John 14:1). Jesus also told us, “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).Today, do not allow your heart to be troubled. Believe in God, and have faith in Him and His Word. He will be the stability of your times. Father, deliver me from fear, anxiety, and worry. I trust in You for the situations I face. Thank You for giving me stability. I will anchor my life in You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.Further Reading: Isaiah 33
