KIRA UPDATE: Kira is feeling a little better today. She is still on the ventilator 24/7 but is now able to cough up some of the junk in her lungs which is really good. She gave me lots of smiles today which made me super happy! I talked with the doctor in charge of her care in the ICU and expressed my concerns and told him that my goal is to get her off the vent and breathing on her own, without having to work so hard. I also told him I want them to be more aggressive with her respiratory issues and would like to see her started on some prednisone. He wants to see how she does tomorrow when they take her off the vent and if she is still working hard to breathe on her own...they will likely order the steroids. So overall..I think we are moving in the right direction and Im glad me and the doctors have reached an understanding of her goals to get her better and out of there! Im hoping she will be home later this week. Kira is super tough..she is in good spirits and I have no doubt that she will kick this viruss butt! Please continue to pray for her...we are definitely not out of the wood yet..but were getting there! Ill update again soon.
