KU professor fears threat to life from in-laws Srinagar, August, 03: (GNS) A professor from University of Kashmir Friday filed a complaint of “threat to life” from his in-laws after he dissolved relation with his wife due to matrimonial dispute according to Islamic Shaira legally through Honorable Court. While talking to GNS, theAssistant Professor of Botany Department in University of Kashmir, Latief Ahmed Pir said that, in back drop of the matrimonial dispute anddivorce, he now fears threats to life and property from his in-laws, especially from girls’ father Mohammad Akbar Lone and brothers Fayaz Ahmad Lone and Waseem Akbar Lone of Rangwaar Baramulla. He said he has filed a complaint in Nigeen Police Station in this regard. “My in-laws have forcibly occupied my accommodation at Mirzabagh Complex of Varsity and are not allowing him or his family to enter the quarter,” Latief said. He said that all the allegations leveled by his in-laws against him which were carried in some local newspapers on July 16 last month are baseless. “These allegations are aimed at to ruin my image,” Latief added. Latief said the allegations of demanding dowry and beating were made by the family members of girl to implicate him in false case. “Now the case is before honorablecourt and justice will prevail. I am completely denying the allegations framed against me and am yet to be proven guilty before court of law,” Latief added. Station House Officer (SHO) Nigeen Imtiyaz Ahmad said wereceived the complaint from Latief Ahmad in this regard and we are looking into the matter. Pertinently, Latief was arrested by police earlier after his in-laws registered a case of domestic violence and dowry against him. In this regard police had filed an FIR against him. (GNS)
