KURDISH MAYOR APOLOGIZES FOR SAYFO INVOLVEMENT -- At a seminar in Stockholm, Ahmet Türk, the Kurdish co-mayor of Mardin in Southeast Turkey, expressed sorrow at the participation by some Kurdish tribes in the genocide of 1915 and apologised to the Arameans (Syriacs), Armenians and Êzîdîs. Türk said the decisions taken in 1911 had been implemented throughout the years of the Republic, and that the same mentality still existed. Türk added that the efforts to create a nation state based on the denial of peoples was still continuing, adding: “While implementing these decisions in 1914-15, unfortunately the Kurdish people were openly used in the name of Islam. We, the grandchildren and children, feel the pain caused by the participation of our grandfathers and fathers in that massacre. We will never forget the pain we inflicted on our fraternal peoples. And we must not forget. We hope that the Aramean (Syriac) and Armenian peoples and our Êzîdî brothers and sisters will forgive us.” en.firatajans/news/news/turk-we-hope-that-the-syriacs-armenians-and-ezidis-will-forgive-us.htm#.VI7JS-Ii27g.twitter ----------------------------------------------- YOUR THOUGHTS ON THIS STORY ARE APPRECIATED.
