Kakinada, India – We stayed here for more than a week having no chance to roam outside and see ideal locales for us as foreig sea fearers in India. Thus, I took some shots understanding the way how people live and work for living. Some stevedores and few port laborers I met gave me that best chance, though, talking and gesturing with them is far intuitive. They shake their head expressing “yes, continue talking”, nod when “they got the point” and barely nod if they agree or say “yes”. Quite confusing, for intsance, since we shake for “no” and shuttered when confused and directly speak out for “yes”. Hand gestures, however,probably praticed gesture for them when having a conversation… a gesture they always do which is then a helpful tip for me to understand their thoughts – some people, in my case with them barely speaks english, thus, accented pronunciation makes hard to understand the word. English plays a major part in business, may be as well as their medium of instruction in schools, though. (… to be continued)
