Kaleidoscope Photography Club, Bathinda (Punjab) and AAROHAN (Regd, A Bathinda based Organisation for Eco-Tourism Awareness) invite entries to the second all India Photography Contest. Theme of the contest: Photo Essay Theme of Photo Essay: Open. Each photographer may choose his/her own theme. Prizes: (In each age group; upto and including 19 years, above 19 years) 1st : 2 years subscription of National Geographic Magazine and National Geographic Traveller India Magazine. 2nd : 1 year subscription of National Geographic Magazine and National Geographic Traveller India Magazine. 3rd & 4th: One year subscription of Better Photography Magazine. Certificate of participation shall be emailed to each contestant. Few words about Photo essay A photograph is spatially and temporally localized. Though a trained viewer can stretch the spatial and temporal canvas to extrapolate wider meaning; an avid viewer would communicate at the level of instant captured. Wider import of the photograph available to a trained viewer may or may not be available to others. We inhabit an increasing visual and mobile world and are adapted to text based media and communications. Text be it newspaper, story, poetry or film is cursive in nature. It moves in space and time changing locales and garb. It enables the viewer to apprehend larger slice of reality than made available by a solitary picture. Even though a picture is worth a thousand words yet in order to build a larger narrative the need to string together several images supported by minimal text appears to be a genuine one. This assemblage is known as a photo essay. We would like you to go out and make photo essays based on the theme of your choice. Send us exactly five images on the theme of your choice along with supporting text of approx. 200 words. Please serialize your pictures in the order you want them displayed. Rules of participation : 1. The competition is open to the residents of India . 2. There are two age groups (a) up to 19 yrs (b) above 19 yrs 3. Soft copies in JPEG format minimum 1200 pixels on the longer side may be sent at the following email ID : entrieskpc@gmail 4. Photo submissions shall be without any borders or water mark. 5. Submissions must be accompanied by appropriate supporting text in a word file. Name of the photographer with age, valid email ID, postal address, cell phone no., occupation may also be included in the text file. 6. Entry fee of Rs.200/- per photo essay is applicable. Eminent jury of photographers will adjudge the short listed entries to declare the winners.
