Kedarnath (some facts I can state.. open to interpretation and any logical conclusion, the way you want it). Here is my version : Amazing string of events when we read thru the fine lines of TOI. There was Idol of Dhara Devi (similar to water stream) removed by geological survey of India .. which locals and sadhus had objected before this tragedy befell.. Now post this the statue has been reinstated. Yes the whole place had no plantation & natural trees to control the flash flood. Man made recipe for disaster. Local sadhus say this kind of rainfall happens but due to cutting of trees this has exacerbated .. & they smile and they want to stay there... & keep worshipping.. The Kedarnath temple and the idol stands still. Yesterday the head preacher takes it our for daily prayers and put is up in a place i.e. the winter abode as the prayer of the idol never stops .. it is 24 x 7.. he wades thru water & makes this happen.. commendable faith.. nothing has happened to him.. The army is trying its best to rescue .. commendable.. a helicopter crashes (no body knows the reason why ?). It was carrying logs for mass cremation & also rescued pilgrims.. more burning of forest wood.. more heat & smoke .. HE didnot like it.. Pls bury them like sadhus in nature.. we are still bothered about whether to bury or burn.. burning is so lousy in these conditions.. burial is better ... in peace and prayer to prevent an epidemic from spreading by putrefying carcases.. why they want to burn and throw the ashes in water I donot know.. may be it feeds the fishes .. in burial ants & termites feed.. big deal.. may be they need a balance in nature hence so many religions .. Some jains keep the caracasses in roof top so that birds feed.. Ha .. I realise now why we need so many religion to keep the ecosystem and cycle going .. Good .. Fire to Fire, Earth to Earth, Water to Water, Dust to Dust.. the Panchabhutas .. & we are worried about our existence .. So enjoy your present and be happy. It is all that infinite forces grace. AMEN !!
