Kenny Jackett on the wage structure and the board “The funds are there if we can improve, there’s no doubt about that,” said head coach Jackett, who was chosen as the Championship’s top boss for August ahead of Nottingham Forest’s Stuart Pearce, Norwich’s Neil Adams and Ian Holloway of Millwall. “It’s about getting the right player at the right time and, in perhaps some cases, closing the deal. But it hasn’t been restricted. “We made a considerable bid for Andy Delort and that shows the intentions if the right player is there.” Jackett defended the wage ceiling as he says it prevents problems emerging in the dressing room. “We have a wage policy that myself and every one of us think is right,” he said. “Team spirit and attitude are very much affected by wage structures. The players signed have to fit in with that. “That’s not a lack of investment from the board; it’s a principle we all think is right. “Are we looking to strengthen? Yes. But are we desperate for someone before the Blackpool game? No.”
