Key Information on New FAMU Head Football Coach Alex Wood : (Over 30 Years of Coaching Experience - 59 years old) -Coach Wood played for the Iowa Hawkeyes from 1975–1977 as a running back. - Coach Wood was the Running Backs Coach for the University of Miami Hurricanes National Championship Teams (1989 and 1991) under Head Coach Dennis Erickson. *Note: 1991 was the perfect 12-0 season for the Hurricanes - Coach Wood was Offensive Coordinator at Wake Forest for two seasons from 1993 - 1994 - Coach Wood was the Head Coach at James Madison University from 1995-1998. He took his team to the 1-AA playoffs his first season as Head Coach - Wood coached Randell Cunningham and Dante Culpepper as Quarterback Coach for the Minnesota Vikings (1999 - 2002). Dennis Green was the Head Coach. - Coach Wood was Wide Receiver Coach for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2003 - Coach Wood was Offense Coordinator for the Arizona Cardinals in 2004. - Coach Wood was Offensive Coordinator/WR from 2011 - 2014 at the University of Buffalo.
