Kfcs mangagement at head offices reply to my letter was they would give a $100 coles myer voucher it was explained to him that would not be good enough form of compensation being as i had to make 2 trips to the shop that night when never got to eat our meal and head office also said we should have greatful because they gave us a refund on what wed purchased i had to spend at least 3/4 hrs on the phone trying to get a fair resolution i also spent approx 3hrs drafting a letter typing it posting it so far a $100 dollars hasnt even covered my time trying to resolve this and when he was told we were not prepared to except that offer we would rather go ahead with what we wrote in the letter and that was to name and shame them his reply was we wont be blackmailed this was never about blackmailm it was about the fact big companies think they can treat you like this and get away with it which in this case they chose that option their are no small claims for this sort of incident neither is their a government department to even punish them with a fine so if everyone could please like and comment it would be appreciated if you would also read the original letter it would be appreciated this could happen to you as it has to us unless people stand up to these big companies they try so hard with advertising on big brother Aussie cricket,big bash and other things only because its all tax refundable they are greedy people that need to be made accountable KFC 32 Camberwell Rd Hawthorn East Vic., 3123 9/12/2014 To whom it may concern On Thursday 16th October 2014 @ 8.12 pm, I purchased 1 Zinger Burger, Lrg Chips, 10 Nuggets, 1 Original Fillet Burger and Reg Chips, which came to $26.75. When I got home my partner, Paul Ortu, had the Zinger Burger, his 1st bite was ok but when he took his 2nd bite he bit into a foreign object that his teeth couldnt bite through, at first he thought it was a piece of bacon but only to find a plastic coated piece of cardboard between the chicken fillet and the lettuce. We both felt sick to the stomach, so before I ate my Fillet Burger I thourghly checked it but was grossed out by the zinger burger. After taking photos of the zinger burger and the piece of cardboard, which we later found out it was a TIME CARD, we put it in a zip lock bag and put it in the freezer, I then went back to your KFC store on Paul St in Croydon and told them what had happened and showed them the photos. RAY PARASHIS who was the person that made the zinger said that he couldnt understand how the time card got there as he could remember making it cause there was a 2 minute wait for the zinger burgers. His words were Im shocked and puzzled as to how it got there and Im sorry, they gave me my money back for the whole meal and then took down my details and said that Nancy the store manager would get back to me the next day, we didnt hear from anyone so I said to Paul lets give it a couple of days, yet still no reply. Now my partner has been very ill with an unknown abdominal complaint for a few yaers and has been in and out of hospital, as he doesnt eat very much at all and on this night he had a craving for his favourite Zinger Burger, now its put him off KFC for good. Anyway the reason its taken so long for me to report to your complaints department is that Paul was in and out of hospital during the following month after the incident and I had to concerntrate on looking after him as well as taking him to appointments. So on the 17th November @ 3pm I rang your complaints department, they took down the details and our name and phone numbers and said that an area manager would get in touch with us soon. A couple of days later a lady called LADDAWANA rang me, I told her what had happened and explained why there was a time lapse of a month and I also asked why the store manager Nancy hadnt called us back during that time, she said that she will go and see Nancy and work out what they can do for us. Nancy then rang back after a couple of days and said sorry for not getting back to us, she explained that Ray Parashis and ALL STAFF MEMBERS new and old are going to be retrained, they also have an annaul visit from the Health Department and she continued on to offer us KFC VOUCHERs in which we refused because we were both repulsed by the lack of PRODUCT HANDLING on their behalf. So I told her she can tell the store owner that we are not happy with the offer and that they can come up with another offer. Ms LADDAWANA ? called us back on Wednesday 26th November @ 5.19 pm, she said that all they could do was the offer of VOUCHERs, again we said no because we dont want to eat KFC AGAIN! and that we would like another source of compensation maybe cash. She said that its not possible and would have to talk to her BOSS. I told her that if we dont get a reasonable result as soon as possible we will go to the MEDIA about it and well also put it all over FACEBOOK etc, she still said that she will do nothing, hoping that we give up the fight, again she told me that she will have to talk to her BOSS I asked her whos your boss, she replied UMM!, I said would that be head office? Her reply was Oh thats what I meant I reminded her that we would go public about the matter and her reply was well you just do that because Im not going to offer anything else then she hung up on me. What kind of PUBLIC RELATIONs is that. On December 1st, we hadnt heard anything so I called her back @ 5.15pm to find out what was going on, Laddawana told me that head office said to her that they have no policy in offering any cash compensation so take the VOUCHERs, we refuse to have these VOUCHERs because we dont want eat KFC again and the vouchers are like MONOPOLY MONEY to us they are of no use. I told her that we felt like that she was mucking us around and trying to avoid giving us some compensation. Her reply was Well Im sorry you feel that way but I run 5 other KFC stores and I have to keep them running without any problems Again I reminded her about going to the MEDIA etc about the matter and how she runs a very popular fast food outlet and she said Well I hope you have good luck with it in very arrogant tone and said good bye. Since then I have been in touch with the MAROONDAH COUNCIL and spoke to ALLISON the HEALTH OFFICER, she went to the KFC store on Paul St, Croydon, did an inspection and said that the store was clean and that the staff are being retrained in handling all food. But as I said to her wheres the proof and why didnt RAY PARASHIS geat the sack or something along those lines, we feel that he and the store have got off scott free while my partner has this mental image of a TIME CARD that was in his burger, that he couldve chocked on, and being that Paul suffeers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Depression and has Anxiety this kind of thing plays on his mind as each day goes by, he gets more depressed knowing someone has wrongly handled food, thinking all the time was it a mistake or was it placed there as a cruel joke, because some of this stupidity does happen in the food industry and that person should be punished. Also what kind of store owner wouldnt go out their way to make sure that her customers are fully satisfied with a reasonable offer, if this is how she runs 6 KFC outlets then I would hate to know how many other customers of hers have had the same problem. What if this had happened to a child could you just imagine, he or she couldve chocked and all you get is VOUCHERs ! Not good enough! Of all the years weve been eating fast food like Fish and Chip hamburgers, Mc Donalds, and Hungry Jacks etc, weve never ever had a problem it just seems to be a common problem with KFC eg. maggots and dead rats falling into the cooking oil all at this store and food poisoning at a store in QLD etc. KFC have been long running sponsors with Cricket Australia like the KFC BIG BASH, KFC CLASSIC CATCHES through out the test series, no doubt youll be behind the sponsorship of the ONE DAYER WORLD CUP 2015. You were also a big sponsor for BIG BROTHER and by watching the adds each night it just made us feel sick to the stomach. We cant understand why LADDAWANA couldnt offer us a reasonable cash compensation when KFC can give away THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS away in competitions. Her reply is that its only for people who enter into the competitions and nothing else. So on that note we were advised by another source to make a complaint directly to you since we werent getting anywhere with the store owner. We feel that her Public Relations dealing is extremely poor, the Product Quality -> FOREIGN OBJECTs in food is sickening, and the Hospitality of Product Handling is not very sufficient. We would like to raise this matter with you and hopefully come to some sort of reasonable agreement of compensation, if not we will go the media and place it all over the internet and inform Cricket Australia on how KFC treat their customers, as i quoted this is not the first time that this store has had problems with the poor handling of food, and we want something done about it and not just have customers kept quiet by offering MONOPOLY MONEY VOUCHERs when they say that they dont want to eat KFC anymore.
