Komichi trial: Police Officer testifies The trial of MDC-T chief elections officer and member of its national executive, Morgan Komichi, will resume on Monday after the police officer at the centre of the case testified. Mugove Chiginya took to the stand and related the events that took place on the 14th and 15th of June during the days of the special voting process. While under cross examination, from Komichi’s lawyer Alec Muchadehama, Chiginya told the court that he had registered in Mbare and had been issued an sv2 form as proof that he had applied to vote under the special vote in Mt Pleasant. He refuted allegations by Muchadehama that his particulars had been found in other constituencies which include Southerton and Harare and maintained that he had failed to vote at Mt Pleasant Hall on both days as his name was not called. Of the temper proof ballot paper brought as an exhibit, Chiginya professed ignorance over it and said it was his first time to see it since he failed to vote and never got an opportunity to see voting material. Komichi was arrested for fraud and violating Section 85 of the electoral law by tempering with ballot material. He remains in custody and the trial continues next Monday.
