Korea-Spain forum opens in Malaga By Park Si-soo Dozens of Korean and Spanish policy makers in the fields of diplomacy, politics, business and media will participate in a forum to be held in the Spanish coastal city of Malaga from Wednesday to Thursday to discuss a variety of issues facing the two countries, especially the prolonged economic slowdown and job creation. This is the 8th forum of this kind and will be co-hosted by the Korea Foundation (KF) and Hankook University of Foreign Studies (HUFS). The Korean delegation include KF President Yoon Hyun-seok, HUFS President Park Chul, Korean Ambassador to Spain Oh Dae-sung, The Korea Times President Park Moo-jong and ranking officials from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Incheon Technopark and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency. The Spanish counterparts include Energy Minister Jose Manuel Soria, Vice Foreign Minister Gozalo de Benito, Spain’s Ambassador to Korea Luis Arias Romero, Malaga Mayor Francisco de la Torre Prados and President of the University of Malaga Adelaida de la Calle. The upcoming forum will seek ways to bolster the two countries’ bilateral relations to secure “sustainable development in economy, innovation, technology education, culture and tourism,” KF said in a statement. “The event will help bolster partnership of the two countries in many aspects.” The 7th forum was held in July, during which participants pledged to jointly come up with new ideas and measures to revive the stagnant Spanish economy.
