LAHORE: Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) President Abid Saqi has said that the Supreme Court (SC) registrar’s move to prohibit journalists from publishing resolutions of bar associations is “highly offensive”. He was highly critical of the manner in which the Supreme Court had reprimanded Advocate Babar Sattar and later sought clarifications of policy guidelines from the media house that published his article. Saqi said the courts could not victimise lawyers for expressing their views by seeking policy guidelines from newspapers if their judgements and role were criticised. “Courts are there to uphold the rights of innocent people,” he said in a statement.
