LFC UPDATE: SMALL MONEY SPARKING BIG THINGS - INVESTING IN ENDRI $50 PER WEEK IS SAVING THOUSANDS. A lot of work is happening in the background and we are trying to set up the bones & structure for Endri & his Lombok foundation. ’Not the normal western type throwing heaps of money at sick children on a one by one basis. (we dot have heaps of money & what we do get, we must make go a long way) We are setting up a different Foundation - a light weight, low overhead foundation that is more like a independent NGO who helps connect government & hospital resources to sick children by finding them & guiding the children through the bottle necks assisting in paperwork help or transport to doctors, food & clothes etc. Importantly a focus is getting these children fixed at an early as possible stage as opposed to years and years later when the child health issues have compounded, costs become huge and too complex for the local hospital system. It is hard to explain - but with some several thousand LFC children out there, our strategies must be bolder and make funders money go much further, so the best way we see to achieve this is more like we do in modern countries with Endri s organisation simply getting the child into the health system ASAP. Everybody has been part of empowering Endri, also paying Endri $50 per week is sparking dividends (thank you Jan & Ang Harvey :) ) Romac an Australian - NZ rotary arm were looking at emergency operations for the likes of Habibi - $50,000 could have been the cost to get them to another country. $3,400 plus expenses to Jakarta, and pretty much free with Enri doing the work and he also raised 5 juta through his own community. Endri is sparking Lombok volunteerism & charity in his community, which is a really big part in building a healthy caring community. Endri is a small seed to this healthy community - one that no longer hides its sick, in shame but shows love, kindness and compassion to them. A community that is not scared of its deformed & disabled people but grows in its maturity & kindness towards them. As westerners you may not believe that when Gawi goes to swim in a community swimming water park parents have the gall to tell the manager he must go, a new little girl, that we may be helping, has been sworn at and abused from the head master and told not to come to school, her cerable palsy is getting worse, she has no medical help parents are complaining and don’t want her mixing with their children. Importantly coming up is getting our search & find project into action documenting LFCs & terminally at risk sick children’ across Lombok & Sumbawa. A very in expensive research project that will uncover hundreds of forgotten children. Finding & training the right people to do this job is Endri’s next challenge. This information can be then documented, with hopefully a strong connection team following up the needs of each situation. LAST WEEKS LIFE CHANGER that Endri achieved with ease and simply connecting the right people together. Connecting Head People this time to Rifky. Message from Endri: Last week before I am going to see Habibi I meet a new children name Rifky 6 years old in Pemenang North Lombok. He has problem in uritera after the x ray the doctor in Mataram suggest to do surgery in Jakarta. Because the vice regent here know me that I help a lot of children here so he called me to see him. At the same time the vice director of the central hospital of province comes. And we talk and he promise to consult with the doctor who can do operation in Mataram, and now finally a good connection is made & Rifky can be operated in Mataram and also he got more money from the mayor of regent here 3 millions rupiahs. Really happy to hear this.” Another Example & another stage closer: We need an office or even two & Endri was sent out to get them & got 2 free … this is money we do not have to raise all because of what we are sparking, thinking in a business manner and holding out in search of the right Lombok help. Endri now has a office & safe storage room for clothes etc which he is setting up with Mahysar at the Blind Orphanage and also another temporary one in Tanjung. So slowly, slowly PS The LFC Husnul loves being at the blind orphanage, more to tell soon.
