LIGHTNING SIGN OFF 2013 IN STYLE 2013 Premiers Team Lightning ended the season in style with a 4-0 carve up of second placed Nundah Warriors at Marchant Park earlier today. With the premiership already wrapped up before the kick off, Team Lightning put on a football show for spectators with brilliant team play, neat passing and through balls a highlight. Alex scored a double and Brayden a goal, while Kai opened the scoring with his first goal of the season. Expecting a tight and hard fought match, Team Lightning started the match with some good interchange passing between all players until Alex launched the first of his long through balls that found Brayden in space and put his opening just wide of the posts. Running onto a neat ball, Jackson was next to find space and he launched his shot. The ball cannoned into the post, with Alex collecting the rebound but finding the keeper with his strike. With Nundah unable to make a dent in the Lighting defence, Lightning grew in confidence with a nice through ball from Brayden putting Kai into the clear and he made no mistake with his strike to open up a 1-0 lead. The match was all one way traffic, with any counter attack from Nundah halted on half way by the steadfast Lightning defence. Every Lightning player had shots on goal, before Alex scored the first of his double and Brayden got himself onto the scoresheet as well. All in all it was a complete performance from the side that has dominated the competition, with each and every player improving their skillet and playing their part in a very successful season. From 15 games, Team Lightning won 12 matches, drew 2 and suffered only 1 defeat. Congratulations Team Lightning on an outstanding season. I am one very very proud coach.
