LLWYNGWRIL COMMUNITY CO-OPERATIVE PUBLIC MEETING AT - TopicsExpress

LLWYNGWRIL COMMUNITY CO-OPERATIVE PUBLIC MEETING AT 7.00 P.M. ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 30TH. IN THE GANOLFAN As you may know, Gwynedd Council has agreed to hand over the school to the Community on a 99 year lease for a peppercorn rent of £1 per year, so that it can be developed as a facility for the Community. At last, we have heard from the National Lottery that our initial outline application for funding has been deemed to meet the necessary broad criteria and we have been invited to submit a full application as a final stage. The work needed to reach the current position, has been carried out by a small number of people who formed a steering group, but now we need to assemble a much bigger dedicated group of volunteers, to carry out all the necessary planning, to ensure the proposed Community Cooperative has a successful launch. This really does need to be a whole community project, with lots of individuals involved, so that no one small group of people end up trying to do everything and end up doing them badly! - We need people who are willing to be active in the whole setting up process and can commit to giving time regularly over the coming months, while the enterprise is being set up. - We also need a large number of people with different skills and experience or just plain enthusiasm, who can volunteer for short periods, or to assist with specific tasks. So much hard work has been done to get us this far, - which has been worthwhile, because the enterprise was aimed at meeting the needs expressed by the community, in response to the earlier questionnaires - it would be a pity if it had to be abandoned, because there are insufficient volunteers to make the dream into a reality. We hope that people from Llwyngwril and surrounding areas will show their continued support, interest and enthusiasm for the enterprise, by coming to the meeting and getting involved in whatever way they can. This is the opportunity to achieve something positive, out of the disappointing decision that the school would close. Further, its an opportunity to create a unique facility, bringing old and new amenities, attractions and services to Llwyngwril and an opportunity for all the residents of the Village to be a part of its long term regeneration. There would be nothing worse, than there being insufficient people to enable this to become a reality and afterwards, when the Council sells off the land, everyone wishes they had done more. We look forward to seeing you and hearing your views and hope you will be able to volunteer some of your valuable time. With best wishes from the Steering Committee A copy of the business plan with all the details of the proposed project is in the files section above.
