LOBOLA IN BULAWAYO I was in Bulawayo for a traditional wedding - TopicsExpress

LOBOLA IN BULAWAYO I was in Bulawayo for a traditional wedding between my in-law Shona family and a Ndebele family. My In-laws welcomed their Ndebele Son In-laws and gave them a five star reception. Our Tete is fluent in Shona and Ndebele and she did all the translations from Ndebele to Shona and from Shona to Ndebele. No English was used. As a Son in Law I was included in the negotiation ceremony but only as an observer. Our cultures are very different but we managed to overcome that and our Ndebele Vakwashas married my Sister in law in a Shona Culture and respected all our customs. The ceremony only took 45 minutes because my Father In-laws are Christians, intelligent and well organized people. A month before the traditional wedding my Father In-laws gave our Ndebele Vakwashas a list of all the bridal prices and they knew what to expect. There was no ambush or bickering hours spent whilst negotiating. All the negotiation was done before the actual ceremony and the process was very smooth and more time was spent on interaction between the 2 families and drinking beer. Our late Vice President, Father Zimbabwe Joshua Mqabuko Nyongolo Nkomo dream of National Unity is now a reality. The young generation of Zimbabwe no longer care about cultural differences. We are now one people and our future with our young generation in control will bring economic development and provide our nation with millions of jobs. One day small shops downtown will have job hiring posters and no one will want those jobs. At night my new Brother In-law then took me to 747 a good braai spot and we ate lots of meat. I enjoyed driving in our new nice roads, I hope Zinara continues to upgrade all our roads to an international level. Lastly I would want to thank our Lord God for a safe journey and a good weekend.
