LONG LAZY LADS LUNCH. Im still laughing after Saturday. Paul Bower launched a lovely lunch that lasted from 1 oclock through to 8 oclock on Saturday. There was his Kiwiness Peter Wilson and his Scotishness Angus McSwann who I know, and two who I didnt, Chris Williams and Jim Ashton ...what a great, really great couple of guys. I honestly havent laughed so continuously for so long for ages. We all have one thing in common - Pamplona - oh, and wine and bulls and books and more and it was just brilliant. Ive been lucky enough this last year or two to have been invited to some great dinners with a couple of my favourite people on the planet...but Ive never done a lunch. In Camden. Of epic, food-fantastic, vino-collapso-ed, Spanish proportions. Perhaps that should read espic proportions... We laughed and laughed and Paul and Jims stories of their Sheffield days and their band, Musical Vomit, will stay with me forever. (And I want to hear about Velvet Underpants too!) But it wasnt all banter, their was politics and books and love and life - Paul talking about his Mum was one of the most touching things Ive heard in ages and it was nice to drink a toast to someone I never knew...but wish I had. And for once I was a sensible little lad and stayed just the right side of tipsy, but for Tim you can read Jim. He made it to the pub afterwards but then did a Pinks and was luggage. Gracias otra vez, chicos...fenomenal! And today theres another bunch of the best in town as a mega Guinness Monday is to be thrown. Ive already seen the pics of whos in town already, whos been out and about already and whos flying in especially, and having missed you all over the weekend...I cant wait! I am a lucky Libyan lad...
