Lack of youths participation in political leadership unsettle ABZ ALLIANCE for Better Zambia is saddened by low participation of young people in the political leadership of our country. It is clear that our political system has been missing the vibrancy and creativity that youth are known for. If young people continue to be sidelined in the socio-economic and political spheres of our country stagnation will continue to be the order of the day. We think that time has come for Zambia to allow young people to drive the development agenda of our country. The challenges that Zambia faces today requires revolutionary ideas and such ideas are generated by the youth. We are aware that old politicians will continue to cling on to power. They will continue trying to use young people as tools of violence and to vote for them. Therefore, we urge all the youth to realize that they have to fight for their rightful place in all sectors including the economy. Zambia is not a poor country given the natural resources that we have. However, our people have remained poor due to lack of revolutionary ideas in the utilization and management of our resources. The general public should therefore realize that accelerated development will only be seen in Zambia when young people with new revolutionary ideas are allowed to actively participate. It is a bad sign that the governance of our country has continued to be in the hands of people who have been in government since independence. These politicians have failed to take our country forward and they have proved to be selfish. But we can’t expect them to step aside on their own, we need to prove mature leadership and seek a mandate from the people so that we can serve our country better.
