Ladies and Gentlemen: Once again, below is the information on the Quarter’s Auction fundraiser that will benefit ODB next Tuesday evening. It was originally scheduled for December, but, due to ice, it was deferred until January. I need 3 to 4 volunteers to attend the event and collect money at the door. Please let me know if you can volunteer for this event. I think it should be board members. But, if I don’t get 3 to 4 board members, I will have Katie post on Volunteer Matters tonight. Please RSVP before close of business today. Thanks so much. What: Quarter’s Auction When: Tuesday, January 21, 2014 Where: CPCH- Strickland Hall, 909 Greenlee St, Denton - entrance on Bernard St, entrance C Time: 7:00pm-9:00pm, Volunteers need to arrive around 6:30pm The Denton Divas Quarters Auction is a group of local business owners who come together each month and raise money for local charities. It is our way of giving back to the community. We plan, organize, and host the event. Your responsibility is to have 3-4 volunteers on the night of the event available to help collect money, have 1 person speak before the group and explain about Our Daily Bread, and promote the event to your supporters through your website and/or Facebook. What is a Quarters Auction you ask? It is a Fundraising, Networking and Auction all tied into one FUN Event. Different business owners set up tables with their products, services, and information. An Auction will be held and Our Daily Bread will receive the proceeds from the event. So how does this work exactly? Every guest pays $3.00 at the door for admission and to get their numbered paddle for the auction. The charity receives this money. Drinks will be available for sale. The charity receives this money. Raffle tickets will be sold for a 50/50 drawing. 50% of the money sold in raffle tickets will got to one lucky winner and the other 50% will go to the charity. The business owners pay to have a table at the event. This money also goes to the charity. We will also be asking our guests to bring items from your list of donations for a special raffle offered by the business owners. The networking part of the event comes in at the very beginning! Each guest is asked to talk to all the business owners and get their initials on a raffle entry slip. When the guests have all their initials, it goes into a drawing for door prizes provided by each business owner. There will be a lot of chances to win in this drawing. When the auction part begins each business owner will be given a brief opportunity to speak in front of the group. They will have an auction item and briefly describe it. They will ask for one quarter ( .25) to six quarters ( 1.50 ) for the item. Everyone who would like the item for the bid puts their quarters in the buckets and raises their paddles in the air. Once all paddles are in the air, a number is drawn. If the guest with the number drawn has bid, and their paddle is in the air, they are the lucky winner of the item up for auction! If the number drawn did not bid on that item, another number is chosen until the number is of someone who bid!! Each business owner auctions off two items during the evening. This is a fun way to raise money and go home with some great items. Remember, you and the volunteers can participate so BRING LOTS OF QUARTERS!!!
