Laguna, the “Resort Capital”, “Detroit” and “Silicon - TopicsExpress

Laguna, the “Resort Capital”, “Detroit” and “Silicon Valley of the Philippines,” is committed in its effort to promote the province as the best place to visit, to live in, and invest in, a true traveller’s paradise and an investment haven, through its grandest celebration of the La Laguna Festival – the Festival of Life! The La Laguna Festival is a 10-day long tourism, culture, sports and games festivities. Local and foreign tourists came and experienced the joy of life in Laguna. It was ultimately my brainchild. I personally took part in the conceptualization and implementation of the various activities and programs of the celebration. For the past three years (2011, 2012, & 2013), my hard work, perseverance and commitment together with the dedication and support of all the Provincial Government employees have all paid off as the province won the title for the “Best Tourism Event of the Year “ for three consecutive years as hailed by the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines (ATOP) in Roxas City, Zamboanga Del Norte and Legazpi City, respectively. Our endeavors would not have received the magnitude of recognitions without our initiative, thus it is only PROPER and JUST that I receive the award on behalf of the people of Laguna. In the first place, if not for our hard work in helming this festival and in ensuring that every single detail is in its right place, there would be no La Laguna Festival which gave the Province of Laguna this illustrious honor of producing one of the country’s finest festivals. As the Governor of the Province of Laguna, I exerted my fullest effort to promote our thriving province into an economic and tourism powerhouse through the La Laguna Festival. I also personally partook in the festival’s defense as part of ATOP’s prejudging. I attended every single event during the 10-day festival and made sure that each competition is conducted in grand proportion. I rendered my blood and sweat in going beyond the call of service to ensure that La Laguna Festival, more than a grand national event, becomes a symbol of our Province’s gratitude for the massive progress we have achieved during my term. The ATOP Pearl Award is a remarkable symbol of how Laguna fulfilled its destiny. Even if I cannot claim the success of the La Laguna Festival all by myself, I also believe that there is nobody destined to represent the Province in receiving this award than the person who started it all- the real elected governor of our people.
