Laikipia - Wings to Fly Fifteen scholars under the Wings to Fly sponsorship by the Equity Bank from Laikipia East and North constituencies have been urged to carry the region’s flag high as they join their counterparts through their secondary education. The scholars who were lucky to get the vacancy as the best qualified to benefit from the full sponsorship in secondary education were flagged off at Nanyuki Equity branch where they will join their counterparts from other parts of the country at Kasarani for the induction. Speaking during the ceremony Laikipia East MP Anthony Mutahi said that the program has seen thousands of bright pupils from poor and vulnerable background get education and be dependable people in this nation. - He noted that the number of needy students who do not get the sponsorship is still high and more help is required to make sure that all needy cases are addressed. The legislator added that the Laikipia East CDF has launched a sponsorship program for 20 students each year where shillings 2 million has been set aside for the project. Mutahi noted that out of 104 applicants who had asked to be sponsored by the Wings to Fly program only fifteen were picked and the CDF kitty will use the same records used by the Equity selection committee to get the 20 more. Nanyuki Equity Branch Manager Peter Wanderi said that it was a rigorous task to get the fifteen out of 104 and the committee had to even visit the families to access the situation. Ends
