Last Friday I posted about how much our lives have changed because it was Kates 12th birthday, but little did we know that day that exactly one week later our lives would be changed again. 12 years ago today I was in the hospital going into surgery to have a pacemaker put in. We were all scared but felt reassured the surgery would be successful and I would be fine. Unfortunately, as I was coming out of surgery I experienced several seizures and coded twice, right in front of Chris. They rushed me to ICU and thankfully after another round of seizures a nurse figured out why I was having them and they immediately administered the right meds and seizures stopped. I spent a few days in the hospital and was able to get home to have Christmas at home with my family. A lot of that time is a blur for me because the seizures affected my short term memory, but I do remember all the love and support of my friends and family. It turns out I was suffering from 2 different issues, I was eclamptic from just giving birth, and also diagnosed with pregnancy related cardiomyopathy. If it hadnt been for the cardiomyopathy symptoms I wouldnt have been in the hospital when the seizures from the eclampsia started and I wouldnt have survived those with my heart being so weak. Thankfully, it wasnt my time and I am still able to be here with my kids and see them grow up, and to spend 20 more years with Chris. When I said last week that I am a blessed woman, I truly meant it! I believe in the idea that everything happens for a reason and my trials and tribulations have proven that to me time and time again. I post this today for the friends and family in my life that are going through things, no matter the size or severity. Dont give up, continue to fight, find your reason, and know that in the end it will be exactly the way it is supposed to be.
