Last Saturday I decided to give myself a day-off and took a train - TopicsExpress

Last Saturday I decided to give myself a day-off and took a train to Antwerp to visit GRAFIXX 2014 - a celebration of paper and print, young talent and artistic experiment. After starting my day with a hot cup of coffee (its quite cold out here) at the Kapitein Zeppos. cafe I was just on time for the first lecture given by German artist - Anke Feuchtenberger. Her black and white illustrations of childish figures and insects took me away in a mysterious world of fairytales (beautiful and frightening at the same time). As there was time between the lectures I went to check out the exhibitions, magazine market (zine fest) in the cellar and finally the workshop space where I met a lovely people from Kastaar (well, I hope we will meet again anytime soon). After a nice chat I returned to the conference room for the last lecture of the day - by Brecht Vandenbroucke (BE), an incredible talented artist with surreal sense of humor. I particularly liked his ‘White cube’ short comics collection, based on observation of the everyday life, our relation with social media, technology, modern art etc. His work is definitely worth checking out!
