Last few hours to register for the 2014 Star Awards Luncheon... Come out and celebrate many wonderful achievements from our community! Hope to see you there! The Greater Desert Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce mission is to promote local business, actively support our community, and foster the growth and strength of our member organizations. Annually members and community leaders will be honored at the Star Awards for their demonstration of best business practices and leadership in our city and surrounding area. Large Business of the Year Nominees: Aqua Soleil Hotel Desert Regional Medical Center DHS Spa Hotel Two Bunch Palms Resort Desert Valley Disposal Miracle Springs Resort Small Business of the Year Nominees: The UPS Store #5062 Western Horizon Medical Group Flower Patch Frenzy Casa Blanca Restaurant BurkeMedia Productions Hacienda Hot Springs Inn & Spa Nonprofit Business of the Year Nominees: FAST Swimming Angel View Desert Arc Boys & Girls Club of DHS Eco-Friendly Green Business of the Year Nominees: Two Bunch Palms Resort Grid Alternatives Desert Valley Disposal Casa Blanca Restaurant Person of the Year Nominees: Paula Terifaj Michael Bickford Richard S. Kyaw, M.D. Chris Cunningham Reggie Bickford Kent Helser Winners will be announced at the luncheon! Congratulations to all the Nominees! *This year the Chamber Board has added a new category, Above & Beyond, Community Awards of Excellence, with three special recognition awards that are voted on by the Board (not on ballot): Shining Star, Rising Star and Shooting Star. Rising Star - Pride in Desert Hot Springs This award is presented to an individual or business that has demonstrated exemplary day to day practices and dedicated involvement. The Rising Star has an unyielding commitment to community service and/or programs that enrich the lives of residents of Desert Hot Springs. An individual or business who is recognized as an “up- and-coming” leader within the community, or whose contributions to the community over the past year carried significant impact. Nominees are: Michael Burke of BurkeMedia Productions Sharon Snow of Desert Hot Spring Library Desert Hot Springs Citizens on Patrol Shining Star - Community Impact Award A distinguished award that recognizes a service project, group, business, event or individual that makes the community a better place to live and work. This service project or local event does not have to be hosted or sponsored by the Chamber nor does the group, business or individual need to be a member of the Chamber. Nominees are: Paula Terifaj & Pick Up Crew DHS Holiday Parade Riverside County Fire Department Station 37 Shooting Star - Community Partner Award This award will highlight the recent contributions made by an individual within an organization. This trend-setter doesnt follow the status quo; but rises up to execute a higher standard. A leader, who personifies innovation, stimulates action to meet opportunity and ultimately delivers that vision. While this individual may not be new to the industry, the Shooting Star will have made the most remarkable strides in their role, inevitably impacting their industry & community. Nominees are: Chris Cunningham of Desert Valley Disposal Battalion Chief Patrick Tomlinson Winners will be announced at the luncheon! Congratulations to all the Nominees!
