Last night I had a chance to meet my uncle from my mother side. At first I am reluctant to open a discussion since for a long long time I did not meet him. He started our conversation narrating stories of our grandparents and great great grand parents. There I learned a lot including a little history of the past, how my ancestors started and survived the life in Samar. Compared now, which he give emphasis to this, he said student life is much easier now. During there time they have to walk 5- 50 kilometers or more each day just to reach school. He told me even my father experienced that when he studied in Samar High in Eastern Samar(not sure). So many topics were discussed even the Japanese occupations, the remnants of Spaniards, the present and past politics......what surprised me was the pictures kept in his CHEST/ BAUL......Wow several pictures taken in 1920s and in several decades including his most treasured JAPANESE SWORD/BIONETA (which according to him his lolo pass it to him..) Then his most kept secret was shared to me....Wow.....If it is true there is no reason for him to be where he is now..........whether it is true or not.... not my priority now ....maybe in the coming days but I feel happy and contented listening to his stories.....IN FACT BEFORE WE PARTED WAYS HE TAP MY BACK AND SAID I AM VERY VERY HAPPY FOR GIVING ME YOUR TIME AND FOR LISTENING TO MY STORIES......At that point both of us were not able to hold back our tears.... We know we might not have the luxury of time again................
