Last night I had the honor to present, with Penny Pope Frazier a local woman who approached our chapter about helping her give something back to an organization that helped her cope with the loss of her son last year in a tragic accident, our donation check for $509.00 to The Compassionate Friends of the Mohawk Valley. These funds were raised through the running of the Taberg Medieval Festival by the Upstate Chapter of the KOFL. They informed me that this sum easily represents 1/3 of their operating budget for the year, and the largest single donation their local chapter had ever received. The efforts of our Knights, Squires, Pages, Ladies made this possible. I also need to thank all the performers and talent that volunteered their services and time to this event. It was a special feeling to know that we will make a difference in peoples lives. A donation for an equal amount was also given to the Taberg Volunteer Fire Department. Making the total Donations from this fund raising event equal $1018.00. Its moments like this that remind us what it means to be a Knight. Thanks to everyone who helped, and onward to next year.
