Last night at Open House, I think a parent attempted to challenge me in front of other parents. She asked me What makes you qualified to teach this AP class? What are your qualifications?.. I took a deep breath, looked her in her eye and responded, I hold a bachelors in Criminal Justice w/ a minor in Sociology and hours in Political Science, a Masters in Secondary Ed with a concentration in History, and am in the Dissertation phase of a Doctorate in Ed Administration. Not only that, I inherited this AP Gov class when the average test score was a 1.6. The first year we scored a 2.7 and this past year a 2.8. Class size grew from 17 to 55. The parent responded Wow, ok... Parents in the back of the room smiled.. Moral of the story is dont assume....#Youthfulness doesnt mean underqualified #Qualified #U can come for me if u want to, but Im coming right back.....
